How to Spot a Good Landlord — Eneo's Star Rating & Trusted Badge System

April 27, 2026 — Eneo Team

Finding a good rental property is one thing. Finding a good landlord? That's another. A bad landlord can turn your dream home into a stressful experience. At Eneo, we built a rating system that helps you know who you're dealing with before you even book a viewing.

How the 5-Star Rating Works

After booking and viewing a property, tenants can leave a star rating and written review for the landlord. Ratings range from 1 star (poor experience) to 5 stars (excellent). These ratings are averaged and displayed on every property detail panel, right under the landlord's name.

⭐ Example: If a landlord has 14 ratings averaging 4.7 stars, you'll see "★★★★★ 4.7 (14 ratings)" on their card. That's a strong signal — this landlord communicates well, shows up on time, and keeps their property as advertised.

What Makes a "Trusted Landlord"?

Eneo awards a 🏅 Trusted Landlord badge to property owners who meet two criteria:

✅ At least 3 reviews from different tenants
✅ Average rating of 3.5 stars or above

Landlords who haven't reached this threshold yet are labeled 🌱 New Landlord. That doesn't mean they're bad — they just haven't built up enough feedback yet. Everyone starts somewhere.

Why Rating Landlords Matters

Every review you leave helps the next tenant. A landlord with consistent 5-star reviews is likely to be responsive, honest about their property, and easy to communicate with. A landlord with multiple 1-star reviews? You might want to think twice.

It also motivates landlords to be better. When they know their reputation is public, they're more likely to respond quickly, keep their listings accurate, and treat tenants with respect.

What We Show on Every Landlord Card

When you open a property on Eneo, the landlord card shows:

👤 Name & initials — so you know who you're dealing with
⭐ Average star rating — from real tenant reviews
🏅 Trusted or New Landlord badge — at a glance reputation
📊 Stats: properties posted, bookings completed, response rate
💬 Recent reviews — what other tenants actually said

This transparency means you're never booking blind. Before you even make the call, you have a clear picture of who owns the property.

Tips for Tenants

🔹 Always check the landlord card before booking.
🔹 Look for the Trusted badge — it's earned, not given.
🔹 Read the reviews. What are tenants saying about communication and property accuracy?
🔹 After your viewing, leave a review. Your experience helps the whole community.
